LAHORE: PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif on Saturday stressed the need for a people-friendly budget, as he held meetings with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and PML-N leaders at his Jati Umra residence to discuss important party matters and national political landscape.
The former prime minister in his meetings with Abbasi, Senator Rana Maqbool and Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique, took feedback regarding progress in development projects and initiatives taken by the PML-N government.
They discussed the unfolding political scenario in the country and the party strategy going into the 2018 general elections.
Nawaz reviewed the progress on the budget 2018-2019 and stressed the need for a public-friendly budget that would strike the right balance economically while not burdening the middle class or those living in poverty.
He also discussed the Senate opposition election and the dynamics at work in the Upper House, and the NAB cases and the effect of their probable outcome on the election campaign.
According to sources, Nawaz discussed with Saad the issue of NAB inquiry call for him and the best ways to proceed in that regard.
