Parents day held at college

MARDAN: The first annual parents day of Girls Cadet College Mardan was held at the college here on Saturday.

A colourful function was arranged at the college.

Provincial Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Mohammad Atif Khan was the chief guest at the function.

Commandant Punjab Regiment Centre (PRC) Brigadier Zahid Hussain, students, parents, politicians and district administration officials were also part of the event.

Principal of the college Brigadier (Retd) Javed Sarwar presented the annual report highlighting the significant achievements of the institute.

He added that Girls Cadet College Mardan was established last year at a temporary campus. He said the state-of-the-art campus of the college was under-construction at Takht Bhai covering an area of approximately 33 acres.

He said that more than 250 students had applied for admission of whom only 71 were selected purely on merit.

Javed Sarwar added that currently 71 students were studying in 9th grade and a new batch of grade 8th was also joining next month.

Javed Sarwar added that this event was meant to award prizes to the cadets in different academic, co-academic and sports categories.

He added that the cadets belonged to different parts of the country. “In a short span of time the college has gained a lot of attention from the international media as well,” he added.

Javed Sarwar added that Pakistanis living abroad had shown interest to send their daughters to the Girls Cadet College Mardan.
