Anis, Anwer win pairs event in Balijee Bridge
LAHORE: Anis Ur Rehman and Anwer Mumtaz Qizilbash displayed acumen to earn victory in pairs event on the second day of the 16th Balijee International Bridge Championship here on Saturday.
The pairs event concluded after three sessions and 72 boards. The mercurial Anwer and ever-steady Anis gave a cohesive demonstration of skills to outclass their rivals.
The pair of Javed Khalid and Saeed Akhtar settled for second position, while Ahsan Javed Qureshi and Mirza Shauq Hussain finished third.
In the race for honors in the ladies’ pairs event, the pair of Fatima Raza and Rubina Agha dominated with their winning score being 55.62. Second position was attained by the pair of Preeti Nihalani and Rekha Desai, with a score of 49.28.
The team event will be contested on Sunday (today) and Monday to decide the champions for this year.
