Police praised for PSL security
LAHORE: Lahore police provided foolproof security to the players and cricket lovers during the PSL3 playoffs and won the hearts of Lahorites who paid rich tributes to the commanders of the force. The citizens said Lahore Police have spread the message of peace and love by reviving international cricket in Pakistan. Four DPOs of other districts also helped ensuring the best security arrangements during the sports festival. Cops tightened security at and around Gaddafi Stadium, besides beefing up security at entry and exit points of the city. DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf said following the attack on police in Raiwind and due to overall tense situation in the country, the revival of international cricket was a big challenge. The DIG said at least 18,000 cops provided security cover to the PSL3 gala. The cops were also happy on having good meals in time.
Meanwhile, City Traffic Police welcomed cricket lovers with flowers and candies. The traffic wardens expressed their love for sports through paintings of national heroes. Meanwhil, PSL security arrangements and rain added to the woes and miseries of commuters on the second day of the sports gala in the provincial metropolis here on Wednesday.
Traffic wardens diverted the traffic to alternative routes but failed to manage the chaotic traffic mess. A number of ambulances were stuck in the traffic jams. Long queues of vehicles were witnessed on major roads which were closed ahead of the match. Citizens remained stuck on roads for hours.
