Police foolproof security on first PSL-3 eliminator

LAHORE: Police provided foolproof security to the players and spectators on first eliminator (match) of PSL-3 held in the provincial metropolis Tuesday.

Not a single untoward incident was reported till the conclusion of the match and dispersing of cricket lovers. At least 18,000 cops provided security cover to the PSL gala under the supervision of senior police officers. Dolphin Force, PERU and Safe City Authority conducted extensive patrolling and surveillance respectively. The spectators were frisked under four-layered security. The law-enforcing agencies implemented the security plan in letter and spirit. Air surveillance was also carried out. The players were shifted to the Gaddafi Stadium from hotel and vice versa amid tight security.

Lahore police also established 10 safe houses in different parts of the city to cope with untoward incident and manage emergencies.

Rangers’ headquarters, State Guest House, Police Club, Governor’s House, Qurban Lines, Gulberg Police Station, Iranian consulate, PAF base, Garrison Airbase and PCSIR have been declared safe houses for cricket teams.

The personnel of law-enforcing agencies were deputed at the abovementioned places while the ambulances and other helping equipment were also provided.

Meanwhile, Lahore Police got surety bonds signed from the owners of homes situated around the Qaddafi Stadium. Police directed the residents not to go to rooftops and use special letters issued to them for going out or coming back home.

Moreover, LEAs continued search and combing operations in different parts of the city. They checked documents of suspected persons through android phones and biometric machines.
