LAHORE: Tamgha-e-Shujaat will be awarded to Azeem Afridi on 23rd March, on the recommendation of Khawaja Saad Rafique, Federal Minister for Pakistan Railways.
Azeem Afridi, a railway employee, sacrificed his life while saving a woman on 21st May, 2016, when she was crossing the railway line in Toba Tek Singh while Shalimar Express was approaching speedily. Afridi rushed towards the woman and pushed her away from the track. He saved life of the woman who was going with hand-free in her ear while using mobile phone. Unfortunately, Azeem Afridi lost his life in this effort. Azeem Afridi will be the first railway employee who will be awarded Tamgha-e-Shujaat after his death.
