ISLAMABAD: Quetta Gladiators’ captain Sarfraz Ahmed Monday vowed to put up best efforts to leave Peshawar Zalmi behind for a place in a pre-final against Karachi Kings.
Talking to ‘The News’ on telephone from Lahore, Sarfraz said that for the second time his team is playing against the same opponents (Peshawar Zalmi) at the same venue.“We are ready to put up our best efforts and hopefully this time around we would prevail over Zalmi for a place in the pre-final against Karachi Kings.”
He rued missing Kevin Pietersen and Shane Watson for team’s key matches in Pakistan.“We were expecting both to travel to Pakistan for these matches and initially they planned so. What happened to them and why they changed their decision we know nothing about it. They had been important part of our success and their role here would have been crucial.”
Sarfraz said that Gladiators could beat Zalmi without the two leading players. “We have got some quality foreign and local players with us and are looking forward to them to win it for Zalmi,” he said.
Sarfraz, who along with other teammates was heading towards Gaddafi Stadium to have one last practice session ahead of their crucial match, lauded the security measures adopted for the teams and officials, saying that these were the best he had seen.“Foreign players should feel secure and safe as every effort has been made to create best playing environment for them,” he said.
