Man hangs wife to death over second marriage row

GUJRANWALA: A man allegedly hanged his wife to death over a domestic issue at Fareed Town on Monday.

Reportedly, Saima tied the knot with Afnan five years ago and has three children with him. Later, Afnan contracted second marriage which caused tension in their home. On Monday, Saima and Afnan had a quarrel over the issue. In a fit of rage, he allegedly hanged her to death and fled. Satellite Town police have started investigation.

MOCK SECURITY EXERCISE: The jail authorities Monday carried out a mock security exercise by blaring emergency sirens to check the response time of the security personnel in case of any emergency or jail break.

It was observed that all the departments concerned, including the Elite Force, Punjab Police, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and Pakistan Army responded quickly. The security teams reached the spot within few minutes. In a mock exercise, the security personnel got released four jail officials and arrested all the terrorists on the spot. The bomb disposal squad inspected the area while Rescue-1122 staff provided first-aid to the injured.
