QWP leader says BRT project ill-planned
PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Provincial president Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao on Sunday criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led provincial government for making life miserable for the masses with ill-planned Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.
He said this while addressing a public gathering here at the Shaheen Muslim Town, wherein people from other political parties announced their joining in QWP.
The new entrants put trust in the QWP leadership and believed the party was the last hope for the people of the province.
Sikandar Sherpao welcomed the new comers and asked them work on the manifesto of the party and serve the general public.
He said that the initiative of the Bus Rapid Transit project of the PTI provincial led government was based on bad faith.
Sikandar Sherpao said the BRT project was an election campaign only which was not in the interest of people of province.
He said the ill-planned project had made life for the citizen miserable while the completion of the BRT project within time is impossible.
The QWP leader lamented that due to lack of proper planning the provincial government had turn the city of flowers into the most filthy and dirtiest city.
He said that flopped BRT had caused billions of loss to the provincial exchequer which already spent on ‘beautification’ of Peshawar.
Sikandar Sherpao said the real face of the PTI leadership had been exposed to the people. He asked the National Accountability Bureau to probe the charges of corruption against the provincial government.
He said the provincial government was incapable and inefficient: “The chairmen of several institutions have issued charge-sheet against the KP government,” he said. “But when their own chief minister and some ministers were found involved in corrupt practices, the powers of those institutions were curtailed through legislation,” QWP provincial chief added.
Sikandar Sherpao vowed to strive hard for the rights of Pakhtuns to ensure their progress and development. He said the QWP had emerged as the lone voice for the rights of the oppressed.
