The revival of libraries

Libraries play a major role in grooming students. However, due to the neglect of the provincial government and lack of funds, libraries in Karachi are meeting with A tragic fate. A majority of them have been forced to shut down, while the rest of the libraries have little to no visitors. It is an unfortunate truth that Ghalib Library, probably the best institution of its kind in the whole country, is struggling for its survival. Neither the local authorities nor the Sindh government is ready to contribute to its revival.

Although its private patrons are determined that they will not let the library to close down, they admit that the sources of its funding are shrinking. Steps should be taken to revive the prestigious library of the city. Also, the government should look forward to establishing more libraries in the city to encourage literacy and education. Libraries should be looked at as assets because educated and literate people can better serve a nation. It is time the government took this matter seriously and prevented the library from losing its glory.
