ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) Vice President Senator Sherry Rehman Friday said her party had demonstrated its majority in the Senate to claim the office of opposition leader.
“We have demonstrated the support of 33 senators who supported me for the opposition leader in the Senate,” she said while talking to newsmen here. She said the PPP was ready to extend parliamentary cooperation to the PTI as both were in opposition in the National Assembly.
“Unlike the PML-N, the PPP never closes its doors to negotiations and these are still open for talks with the PTI,” she said.
If elected, Sherry would be the first woman leader of opposition in the Senate.
Though the PTI claims to have the support of majority of opposition parties, it has not yet submitted a list of opposition members who support its candidate for the opposition leader.
