NHA spring plantation drive kicks off

Islamabad : Spring plantation campaign 2018 of National Highway Authority (NHA) was formally launched Thursday with plantation of saplings at Brahma Bahtar Interchange of Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway (M-1) and Shah Maqsood Interchange of Hazara Motorway.

Member Admin (NHA) Ali Sher Mehsood and Member Motorway (North) Shahid Ihsan and General Manager Environment Naila Baqir inaugurated the campaign by planting saplings at the two interchanges.

General Managers of M-1 Mushtaq Kalahari and General Manger Hazara Motorway Jahangir Ahmed were also present on the occasion. Talking to APP at Shah Maqsood Interchange, Member Motorway North Shahid Ihsan said that as per National Highway Authority (NHA) policy, plantation has been declared the integral part of road construction activates and sufficient amount is being allocated in the PC-I of all new NHA projects.

About the Hazara Motorway and under-construction Hakla- DI Khan Motorway, and Havelian-Thakot Motorway he said that tens of thousands of trees wouldbe planted on the right of way of these projects. Moreover, he said provincial forest departments are also kept in liaison through signing of MOUs to carryout plantation in various regions along National Highways & Motorways.
