LAHORE: Additional District and Sessions Judge Ayesha Rasheed Tuesday awarded death sentence to one Uzma Rao alias Tooba on the charges of murdering an aspiring model Abeera.
The court has also imposed a fine of Rs500,000 on the convict. In case of default in payment of fine, the convict will also undergo some jail term before execution of death sentence. However, the court has acquitted two other accused persons in the case, including Farooq Rehman and Hakeem Zeeshan as the prosecution failed to prove charges against them.
According to police, convict Uzma Rao alias Tooba wanted to kill her former husband Babar Javed Butt and she prepared Abeera to execute her plan. Tooba’s plan was to poison her former husband. However, after some time Abeera refused to be part of Tooba’s plan upon which Tooba poisoned Abeera. Tooba wanted to murder her former husband as she claimed her husband caused killing of her daughter. She said her husband did not cooperate in treatment of her daughter owing to which her daughter died.
The police claimed that the co-accused Farooq Rehman had purchased poison from accused Hakeem Zeeshan. However, prosecution failed to prove charges against them which caused their acquittal.
