Amir shines on return to domestic cricket

KARACHI: Mohammad Amir had modest figures on his return to domestic cricket as he captured 3-73 in 16 overs to help Omar Associates dismiss Capital Development Authority (CDA) for 268 in their first innings on the opening day of their three-day Group B match of the Patron’s Trophy Grade II at Pindi Stadium in Rawalpindi on Friday.
Amir bowled with great speed in his first spell, of six overs, taking 3-24, a match official told ‘The News’. He removed Naved Malik (9) and Ali Sarfraz (0) off two successive balls.
But in the second spell, of ten overs, he conceded 49 runs and failed to take any wicket.
The 22-year-old Amir, one of the three actors of the 2010 spot-fixing scandal, had been scheduled to return to cricket earlier this week but their match against Army at Army Stadium, Rawalpindi, was washed out due to rain.
Sarmad Bhatti top-scored with 73 which had 11 fours and a six.
Zohaib Ahmed struck an explosive 50-ball 66 with nine fours and a six.
Hafiz Saad Nasim, Waqas Ahmed and Jalat Khan claimed two wickets each.
Omar Associates, in response, were 77-3 at close with Fahad-ul-Haq scoring 25 with four boundaries. Zohaib Ahmed captured 2-40.
In another Group B show, at Army Ground in Rawalpindi, Shahid Khan blasted 124 with 16 fours and a six to guide Army to 368-8 in their first innings in the allotted 83 overs against Humak Engineering.
Miqdad Hussain hammered 95 with eight fours. Atlas Khan got 3-79.
In response, Humak Engineering were 20-1.
In a Group A clash here at RLCA Ground, Mohammad Zohaib hammered unbeaten 95 with nine fours and a six and Naved Khan belted 72 with five fours to steer Saudi Cricket International to 263-6 in their first innings against Customs.
Basit Ali got 3-51.
Here at NBP Sports Complex, K-Electric reached 337-5 in 65 overs in their first innings against Medicam. Behram Khan bludgeoned 123 with 12 fours. Ramiz Raja hit 82 with nine fours and four sixes. Saad Ali scored 56 with seven fours and a six. Arsalan Farzand and Umar Khan got one wicket each.
Here at UBL Ground No1, Navy piled up 408-6 in their first innings against Sindh Police with Jahangir Shah hitting 125 with eight fours.
Babar Agha made 74 with nine fours and three sixes. Awais Ahmed made unbeaten 69 with eight fours and two sixes. Shiraz Ali got 3-112.
Candyland accumulated 358-6 in 74 overs in their first innings against Asim Textile at Jinnah Stadium, Sialkot.
Zahid Manzoor smashed 188 with 31 fours and a six. Ali Usman and Tauseef Yasin picked two wickets each.
At Model Town Greens Ground, Lahore, Brighto Paints were bowled out for 322 in their first innings by Railways. Akbar Badshah scored 104 with nine fours. Shahid Nawaz got three wickets and Ahmed Shafiq picked two. Railways, in reply, were 37-3, at close.
In a Group D match, at Stags Ground, Lahore, Moazzam Hayat belted 101 with eight fours to take Services Industries to 244-5 in their first innings against Dollar East. Dollar East were 52-3, in reply, at stumps.
Income Tax were in driving seat as they reached 157-3 in 51 overs in response to Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) first innings total of 122 at LCCA Ground Lahore.
