PESHAWAR: The Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) on Sunday vowed to resist recent delimitation of the constituencies by the Election Commission and asked the workers and office-bearers to focus on the preparations for general elections and mobilise the masses to present the party programme to voters.
It decided to consult other political parties for political struggle to undo the controversy of the delimitation before the polls. This was decided during a party consultation special committee meeting here on Sunday.
The meeting was chaired by party head Aftab Sherpao, while party’s provincial chairman Sikandar Sherpao, provincial general secretary Hashim Babar and office-bearers of provincial cabinet, zones and district were also present.
The meeting was told that the delimitation of the constituencies had created uncertainty among the political parties and voters, which is not a good omen for holding of free fair elections.
The meeting decided that the QWP would continue its peaceful struggle against constituencies’ delimitation. In his address to the meeting, the party chairman Aftab Ahmad Sherpao asked the participants to begin election campaign.
