It’s hard out here
After completing their studies, many people apply for government jobs. This is because a job in a government organisation is not only secure, but comes with a lot of benefits. The main reason behind the preference for government jobs is that people’s jobs are secured in these organisations. In addition, such organisations strictly follow the rules regarding promotions and pay raises. After retirement, employees are also entitled to a pension amount that depends on their salary at the time of retirement. However, it is unfortunate that many people are unable to get a government job because nowadays having an influential background is given preference over merit. Even after passing the test and clearing the interview stage, many applicants can’t make their way to the job. This is because the vacant seats have already been allotted to other influential candidates.
It is a general perception that monetary gifts and donation also play an important role in the selection of a prospective candidate. Furthermore, strong references can easily send people to higher posts regardless of whether or not they deserve it. This is the main reason behind the recruitment of inexperienced and unqualified people on higher positions in different government organisations. These people don’t even recognise the basics of their duties while countless deserving candidates are left unemployed. The government must ensure the provision of all kinds of jobs purely on the merit basis. Otherwise, the country will not be able to come out of the quagmire of unemployment.
