DRAP, WHO agree on cooperation
Islamabad: The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan and World Health Organisation have agreed to increase bilateral cooperation and support for better patient care through provision of safe, quality and efficacious medicines.
The agreement came during a meeting between DRAP chief executive officer Dr Sheikh Akhter Hussain and WHO country representative Dr Muhammad Assai here.
The two sides also agreed on the exchange of information, knowledge and education to achieve the common objective of achieving universal health.
The WHO’s representative said both the organisations had a number of common interests
He said the WHO would provide the DRAP with complete support and cooperation for improving the quality of medicines produced in the country, building the staff members’ capacity, and increasing in own performance.
The DRAP chief thanked the WHO representative for its support and expressed the hope that the bilateral cooperation would continue with the aim to improve public health and provide the people with safe, quality and efficacious medicines.
The two also agreed on cooperation for the effective implementation of the DRAP Act, 2012, and ensuring the availability of therapeutic goods on the local market.
