Lahore Fort, Badshahi Masjid front illuminated

LAHORE: Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) has completed illumination of the front of Lahore Fort and Badshahi Masjid, including Huzoori Bagh and now it will soon be opened to the general public at night.

Officials said almost 1,000 high performance European standard lights have been used in the illumination of this historical complex. They said total cost of Rs16 million had occurred on this project, which was spent out of the Lahore Fort’s fund.

All the sites in historical complex have been illuminated which include Huzoori Bagh Baradari, Alamgiri Gate, Roshnai Gate, walls of Lahore Fort and Huzoori Bagh complex, entrance of Badshahi Masjid, tomb of Allama Iqbal, dome of Samadhi of Ranjeet Singh and all the plants and trees inside the historical complex.

The entrance gate of historical complex has also been illuminated. Director General WCLA Kamran Lashari said this was a much desired project by Walled City of Lahore Authority , which was completed now.

“Lights of international standards have been used in this project. Previously we had illuminated the picture wall of Lahore Fort and it is being frequented by visitors now. We will soon be lighting up the quadrangles of Lahore Fort and Sheesh Mahal,” he revealed.

Media & Marketing Deputy Director Tania Qureshi said that for the first time illumination of this scale has been done at Lahore Fort. She said this illumination will also be extended to other sites inside Lahore Fort, which will provide a majestic view to the visitors at Fort Road, Food Street and surely the footfall will increase.
