NAB launches probe against Riaz Pirzada

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (R) Javed Iqbal on Thursday ordered an inquiry against Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Riaz Hussain Pirzada and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Director General Akhtar Ganjeera on allegations of corruption and misuse of authority.

Taking notice of the alleged corruption in PSB, the NAB chairman directed DG NAB Rawalpindi Irfan Mangi to inquire alleged corruption in various departments of PSB and funds provided to different sports federations, especially the non-transparent grant of funds to Narowal Sports City, Liaquat Gymnasium etc.

Besides, the DG Rawalpindi also tasked for investigating into the foreign tours of ministers, secretaries, PSB DG and their family members on federation’s expenses, causing losses to national exchequer.

The NAB chairman also directed the DG NAB Rawalpindi to probe illegal appointments made in PSB, dilapidated condition of country’s different stadiums despite release of funds, devouring of funds allocated for maintenance of stadiums and nonexistent training camps for players.

He ordered complaint verification against member of Balochistan Assembly Anita Irfan allegedly for allotting plots of Christian Welfare Housing Society, Bashirabad, Quetta to non-deserving Christians through cheating.

He directed the DG NAB Balochistan to conduct the complaint verification as per law and submit the report to him.

Speaking at Open Ketchery, Justice (R) Javed Iqbal reiterated his firm resolve for not sparing the corrupt, dragging them in the dock and depositing the looted money into national exchequer.

He assured the complainants to resolve their corruption-related complaints as per NAB law as he firmly believes in "Accountability for All" without any pressure or influence. He listened to the public complaints of individuals patiently and issued on-the-spot orders for resolving their complaints as per law.
