PU approves 36 PhD synopses

LAHORE: Punjab University Advanced Studies and Research Board (ASRB) in its meeting held on Thursday approved 36 PhD synopses and 11 evaluation reports.

The meeting was chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Zakria Zakir. Prof Dr Shahid Kamal, Prof Dr Nasira Jabeen, Prof Dr Muhammad Iqbal Chawla, Prof Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan, Prof Dr Mumtaz Akhter, Prof Dr Hassan Mobeen Alam, Prof Dr Khalid Hussain, Prof Dr Javed Iqbal Qazi, Prof Dr Tahira Basharat, Prof Dr Fakhar-ul-Haq Noori, Prof Dr Anjum Nasim Sabri and Registrar Dr Muhammad Khalid Khan attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, PU declared results of BSc Chemical Engineering (old and new course) 5th semester examination 2017 and BS Applied Geology second professional annual 2017. The detailed results are available on PU website.

additional charge: Punjab University’s Centre for Coal Technology Director Prof Dr Shahid Munir has resigned from the additional duty as controller of examinations after serving on the post for more than three years.

PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Zakria Zakar appreciated the services of Prof Dr Shahid Munir as controller of examination. In a press statement, the VC said that Prof Dr Shahid introduced several reforms at Department of Examinations to facilitate candidates and generate revenue for the university. He said modernised/automated the affiliation, registration and various other operations, set up hotline and established the facilitation centre, the VC added.

A PU spokesman said that the administration was considering giving the additional duty of CE to College of Earth and Environmental Sciences Principal Prof Dr Sajid Rashid, who had earlier served as Resident Officer I.

lecture: Punjab University Pakistan Study Centre (PSC) organised a lecture on "Nation, Narration, Borders: Representing National Identity in Pakistani Anglophone Literature".

Dr Daniela said one of the main features defining Pakistani Anglophone Literature was that it tended to bring into conversation the local and the global. She said concerned with political and social issues, Pakistani Anglophone writers frequently seem to invite their readers to reflect the ways in which social and political dynamics affect the construction of communitarian and personal identities.

Prof Iqbal Chawala shed light on the topic and shared his views.

Accord: USAID’s Punjab Enabling Environment Project (PEEP) signed an agreement with Barani Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Chakwal to establish a Centre of Excellence for Olive Research and Training. USAID Provincial Director Lea Swanson and officials from Punjab Agriculture Department (PAD) along with stakeholders of the project witnessed the signing.

“The establishment of centre would fuel the growth of the olive sector in Punjab by supporting scientific research and training olive farmers on how to boost the health and quality of crops.
