Commissioner directs for establishment of permanent transit point

Rawalpindi: Commissioner Rawalpindi Nadeem Aslam Chaudary has directed to establish permanent transit points (PTPs) at Pirwadai and Barian Check-post also increase and strengthen PTPs with more teams on all major and minor bus stands as well as railway station of twin cities to capture maximum children in movement.

He also ordered to take all necessary steps to revert positive environmental samples in Pindi-Islamabad epidemiological block during low season (Dec-Feb) by quality SIAs and special focus on HRMP (migrant/mobile and Afghan population) also by special coverage of persistently missed children. He also directed to conduct 3 highest quality CRC in all high risk UCs in Rawalpindi and Islamabad with maximum supportive field supervision and monitoring.

He expressed these thoughts while presiding over a meeting organised by Health department to review status of anti-polio drive. Additional Commissioner coordination Tariq Salam Marwat, Assistant Commissioner (General) Ateeq ur Rehman, Chief Executive Officer Health Authority Muhammad Sohail Ahmed Chaudhry, District Officer Health Dr. Abdul Jabbar, Dr. Sarwat coordinator WHO, Dr Amir Sheikh, representative of Allied departments, team from Islamabad and other concerned officers were also present in the meeting.

Sharing details CEO Suhail Ahmed Chaudry said that refusal cases recorded 1622, have been covered to 1497 after 14th day however 125 are still left. He said that main issue of these refusal or unattended children is due to difficult access to army areas and less cooperation of private and army schools upon which Commissioner Rawalpindi assured him that this matter will be resolved soon.
