ISLAMABAD: Former finance minister Ishaq Dar has withdrawn his nomination papers submitted for Senate elections on the general seat as he will contest the Senate elections on the seat of technocrat.
Ishaq Dar submitted his nomination papers for Senate elections on the general and the technocrat seat while the February 19 (Monday) was the last date for withdrawing the nomination papers. A private TV channel reported on Monday.
It is pertinent to mention here that Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has given the green signal to former finance minister Ishaq Dar for contesting the upcoming Senate elections.
Earlier the ECP had dismissed his nomination papers because Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader failed to submit the certified declaration with the nomination papers. Dar challenged the commission’s decision regarding the rejection of his nomination papers for the Senate elections.
Ishaq Dar said in his plea that the Returning Officer dismissed his nomination papers while going against the facts adding he submitted the application attached with all certified papers. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) challenged the nomination papers of Ishaq Dar in
the high court. The appellate court allowed Ishaq Dar to contest the Senate elections.
