‘Nawaz doctrine’ flouts Constitution: Durrani

LAHORE: Former senator and information minister Muhammad Ali Durrani has termed Nawaz Sharif’s election campaign based on tarnishing the supreme court image a bigger incident than the fall of Dhaka. Urging parliamentary heads, seasoned PML-N leaders and lawyers to step forward and thwart the ‘anarchy movement’ launched by the ousted prime minister, he said: “The Nawaz doctrine is a sheer violation of the Constitution, ignoring the fact that the past rulers bent upon crushing the Constitution and the judiciary were thrown in the bin of the history,” he said while responding to questions of the media here on Sunday. He said there was no justification for maligning the judiciary as Nawaz himself asked the apex court to judge him and his family in the Panama case. He said ballet did not put the rulers above the law according to Quran, Sunnah and Constitution. “The ruling party head’s message is clear that the future judgments would be conditional to ballet and courts would not be allowed to render judgments against culprits. Instead issues would be settled on roads that means paving way for an anarchic situation in the country which is already facing numerous challenges on domestic, regional and international fronts,” he said.
