Rawalpindi : Roots IVY, following the axiom of inclusivity and the universal truth that sports are integral to a healthy and multidimensional growth of students' personalities organized a week long IVY Sports gala which concluded today at Roots IVY, Riverview Campus. Budding athletes from all Roots IVY campuses nationwide participated with commendable display of teamwork, sportsmanship, and youthful exuberance. Holistic development through a wide array of extracurricular activities forms the cornerstone of Roots IVY philosophy.
The programme started with the recitation of Holy Quran which was followed by a patriotic song and an energetic flash mob. The Riverview sports arena reverberated with the enthusiastic slogans of the students. A spectacular PT display was presented by students who were wearing colourful head bands and ribbons. The charm of display was enhanced by the drumbeat. The sports events ranged from football and basketball to cricket and volleyball. Badminton and table tennis matches took place simultaneously indoors as Riverview Campus offers multiple facilities of outdoor playgrounds, a basketball court and the turf for volleyball along with a gym and a multipurpose huge auditorium where table tennis, badminton, chess, carom and ludo league competitions were held.
Numerous races that included hurdle race, skipping race, 200m Race and 500m Race were also held on the prize distribution day. The highlight of the sports gala was the tug of war between the students and the faculty members that garnered thunderous applause and cheers from the audience. This mega event provided a platform of equal opportunity to all the students to explore, exercise and polish their sports and athletic talents in the events of their choice. The IVY sports gala concluded with prize distribution ceremony whereby certificates and trophies were awarded to the winners. In the end the chief guest Khadija Mushtaq applauded the efforts of teachers and students and gave away the prizes to the winners. Speaking on the occasion, she opined, "As our commitment to providing best education standards in academia, Roots IVY makes it a top priority to facilitate our students with a broad range of opportunities. Sports play a vital role in developing mature personalities and instil values like patience, team work, honesty, integrity, discipline & professionalism in the students which plays a formative role in nurturing their personalities.
