Govt continues taking over FIF, JuD edu, relief bodies

LAHORE: The government officials continued taking over the relief and educational bodies of Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation (FIF), affiliated with Jamaatud Dawah (JuD), on Thursday.

Officials took possession of a large number of ambulances, dispensaries, schools and free food centres in government hospitals, run by the relief body and appointed government administrators to manage their control.

“The government move to take control of the FIF and JuD welfare centres has been under way for the last three days all over the country, affecting tens of thousands of patients, attendants, wounded, widows, orphans and others from the downtrodden classes. The JuD leadership is planning to move courts against the government for committing contempt of court for violating Lahore High Court’s orders barring any adverse move against the JuD and Hafiz Saeed till March 7,” said a spokesman for JuD Ahmad Nadeem, while talking to The News.

The spokesman said the officials swiftly removed the boards of the health and educational centres, replacing with their own boards renaming them as government centres. He expressed sorrow that government brought a presidential ordinance in haste to enact its own law for implementing the UN orders which were motivated by US and Indian lobbies. “rulers have literally pawned the national honor and independence before the western world and God knows where this Do More will stop,” he said.

The spokesman said that during last year, the JuD and FIF provided medical treatment to over 1.8 million patients in its hospitals and dispensaries, besides shifting to hospitals tens of thousands of wounded and sick. Besides, the FIF had been running free food distribution centres in all government hospitals of Lahore, catering to the needs of over three thousand destitute and patients every day. He said that 73 FIF ambulances from Lahore were taken into possession by officials, quickly repainting and removing FIF names on them, and shifting them to government health centres. He said the FIF had 310 ambulances all over the country, of which 73 were in Lahore. He said FIF had 8 hospitals, over 250 dispensaries, over 150 schools and colleges.

A senior officer of Lahore Police Thursday said they had received directions to take over all assets of Jamatud Dawa and Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation (FIF).

Talking to The News on Thursday, he said they had taken control of some of the assets and the remaining would also be taken into custody soon.

He said they would not spare them at any cost as they had been creating problem for Pakistan internationally. He said all mosques, schools and madrasas would be taken over. However, the control of Jamia Qadsia was with the JuD till the filing of the report late Thursday evening.
