BAHAWALPUR: The 13th Cholistan Desert jeep rally, which has turned into annual grand festival of Cholistan Desert, was inaugurated on Wednesday evening in Bahawal Club Bahawalpur in bustling ceremony.

During the ceremony the winner’s trophy was launched by Senator Saud Majeed Chaudhry along with Commissioner Bahawalpur division Saqib Zafar and MD Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab Ahmer Malik, Chairman Punajb Revenue Authority Dr Raheel Ahmad ,Mayor Bahawalpur Aqeel Najam Hashmi and chairman district council Sheikh Muhammad Dilshad.

While briefing the media men MD TDCP said that this event had become globally recognized. Jeep rally, though initially it was local jeep rally contest.According the TDCP officials that on first day of registration, 90 drivers and their navigators got themselves registered including three foreigners and three women drivers.

This contest will consist of two rounds being preliminary and final. Pprepared class and stock vehicles will participate to run of 455 km long track which lies in the desert of Bahawalpur, Rahimyar Khan and Bahawal Nagar district.

The historical magnificent forts, the relics of than Bahawalpur state are situated all along this track which will be exposed to the participants and motor sports lovers. Worth mentioning is this Jeep rally is not only a great entertaining festival for Bahawalpur people but it also an occasion to enjoy festive moments which bureaucracy always looks for .
