Cold wave to prevail

LAHORE: Dry weather with cold winds was observed in the city here Tuesday while Met office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.

Met officials said continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country. They predicted that mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. They added that rain-thunderstorm (with snowfall over the hills) is expected at few places in Malakand Division and Gilgit-Baltistan.

On Tuesday, rain-thunderstorm (with snowfall over the hills) associated with gusty winds occurred at scattered places in KP, Fata, Punjab, upper Islamabad and Kashmir, while at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan. Rainfall was recorded at several cities, including KP: Malam Jabba 47mm, Dir, 44mm, Lower Dir 28mm, Saidu Sharif, Balakot 19mm, Kakul 17mm, Parachinar, Peshawar (Airport) 15mm, Mirkhani 14mm; Punjab: Islamabad (Golrha 53mm, Zero Point 20mm), Rawalpindi (Shamsabad 50mm), Murree 22mm, Mangla 19mm, Mianwali 14mm; Kashmir: Muzaffarabad 29mm, Kotli 19mm, Garhi Dupatta 16mm. Snowfall (inch): Murree 11, Rawalakot 08, Dir 06, Malam Jabba 05 and Kalam 04.

Tuesday’s minimum temperature was recorded at Skardu and Parachinar where mercury dropped down to -06°C while in Lahore, maximum temperature was 17°C, minimum was 8°C and humidity level was 65 percent.
