Lane splitting
To many car drivers, lane splitting – riding in between lanes of traffic – is a dangerous practice that must be avoided at all cost. For motorcyclists, this saves a lot of time. However, riders should realise the disturbance that they create for fellow commuters. Riding in between lanes may save time for them, but it slows the traffic for the rest of commuters.
Since motorcyclists occupy virtually all lanes, there is a little room left for cars. The traffic authorities should look into this matter and come up with a solution which is beneficial for all. A separate lane – on the left side of a road – should be assigned to motorcyclists. This will speed up traffic and prevent commuters from getting stuck in traffic for hours.
