Hero’s welcome
The suspects released in the Mashal Khan murder case were given a hero’s welcome by two religious parties. Should we be really surprised that the two religious parties are openly praising those who were acquitted in the Mashal case (despite being clearly involved in his murder)? Haven’t we seen enough evidence of the gradual radicalisation of our people, evidence like the glorification ofMumtaz Qadri?
The chief justice should take a suo moto notice of one released suspect who claimed that he would not spare anyone who committed blasphemy – implying that he is one of those who killed Mashal Khan. The Supreme Court should also investigate why the KP police allowed the PTI’s councillor, Arif Khan, to escape after the killing.
