JI wants to eradicate corruption, says Siraj
Our correspondent
LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan, Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has said that the JI wants Pakistan to be free from corruption and illiteracy, and this could be achieved only through enforcement of the Islamic system.
Addressing the JI central workshop at Mansoora on Wednesday, Sirajul Haq said that a corrupt and exploitative system had prevailed in the country since Independence. The masses are denied the basic facilities of education and health and justice, he said, adding that the martial law and civil dictators had ruled the country for decades and destroyed all institutions. The country is also facing numerous threats from abroad, he said. The problems could not be solved by military rule, western democratic system or liberal and secular system, he said. The JI chief said the political pundits had established dynasties in politics and now they wanted to thrust their third generation on the masses.
However, he said, the coterie of the corrupt had been fully exposed, he said, adding that the masses had come to know their true nature and held them responsible for all ills in society. He said that the common man could not get justice. A class-based education was in vogue in the country, he added.
He said the JI was struggling for a corruption-free and green Pakistan so that the coming generations were safe and prosper.
PTI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf delegation led by its candidate for Senate Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar called on Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Siraj ul Haq on Wednesday at Mansoora to seek JI’s support for upcoming elections of upper house of parliament.
Those who visited the JI headquarters also included opposition leader Mian Mehmood ul Rasheed, MPA Sibtain Khan whereas JI Parliamentary leader Dr Waseem Akhter was present during the meeting.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf delegation requested JI’s cooperation in the upcoming senate polls for which PTI has fielded Ch Sarwar.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf needs at least 47 votes of MPAs to clinch the senate slot whereas its current strength in Punjab Assembly is 34 including the four independent members. JI has one seat of Dr Waseem Akhter whereas PPP and PML-Q have eight MPAs each.
Later, the meeting of joint committee of PTI and PML-Q also finalised the future strategy of senate elections. Committee members including Kamil Ali Agha, Chaudhry Zaheer ud Din, and Opposition leader Mehmood ul Rasheed agreed to adopt joint path for senate elections.
