City Commissioner Shoaib Siddiqui has said that the administration would make all-out efforts to provide facilities to the disabled persons for their better mobility.
He made these remarks during a visit to the Mobility Workshop arranged by a local association on Thursday.
He termed it a good effort by the welfare association and hoped that the workshop would certainly facilitate the special persons. “It is the responsibility of the government as well as the society to provide opportunities to the disabled persons for their better life.”
Shoaib emphasised that physical disability should not be a barrier in utilising the skills and talent by the disabled persons. “I believe the disabled persons in our society are equally talented and their talents can be utilised for the progress of society.”
President of the Disabled Welfare Association Javed Rais briefed the commissioner about the utility of the workshop in detail, saying that it has been set up to facilitate the disabled people in moving around comfortably and to provide them the opportunities to take part in different sports as well.
Training would also be imparted to thedisabled persons to use motor bikes, tri-cycles and wheel chairs at the workshop.
The trainers have got their training from Japan and are fully capable to teach the disabled persons use of vehicles designed especially for them.
The commissioner appreciated the efforts by the association and assured the office-bearers of the city administration’s all-out support in expanding its welfare activities so that more and more disabled persons can benefit from them.
