MUZAFFARABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Monday reiterated full support of the government and people of Pakistan to the just and legitimate right of the Kashmiri people for the peaceful resolution of the issue in line with their aspirations.
The Prime Minister was addressing joint session of AJK Legislative Assembly and Kashmir Council, with Speaker AJK Legislative Assembly Shah Ghulam Qadir in the chair. President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Mohammad Masood Khan, Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Chaudhry Muhammad Birjees Tahir and members of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and Council.
The draft law of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Interim Constitution Twelve Amendment Act 2017 was entrusted to committee on bills. Abbasi on his arrival in Muzaffarabad was welcomed by President Azad Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan, Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan, Speaker AJK Assembly Shah Ghulam Qadir, Senior Minister Chaudhry Tariq Farooq, Chief Secretary AJK Dr Ejaz Munir and others officials.
He said all the illegitimate use of force by the occupation forces in Kashmir had miserably failed to suppress indigenous freedom struggle. About 207 million Pakistanis supported their Kashmiri brethren in their struggle, he said.
The Prime Minister said there might be differences among political leaders but on the Kashmir issue, all the leaders were united and there were no two opinions. He said the issue will remain alive till its peaceful resolution as per the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and the UN resolutions.
He underscored the need to involve the Pakistani and Kashmir diaspora to further highlight the Kashmir issue. The Prime Minister referring to the AJK Assembly and Council said the house had been a seat of unanimity among different Kashmiri leaders who lent unequivocal support to the people in the IHK.
The prime minister said the federal government will extend all possible support for the development of the AJK. The development budget for the AJK had been doubled, he said. He said various dormant projects like Neelum-Jhelum power plant are being completed with the active support of the federal government.
He said the construction of Mansehra-Mirpur-Muzaffarabad road under CPEC will enhance connectivity and spur progress and development in the AJK. The Prime Minister lauded the role of Pakistan Army in its success against the war on terror. Pakistan fought the biggest war on terror in the world with immense sacrifices and succeeded whereas the world had failed, he said.
