Robbery suspect flees court

LAHORE
A robbery suspect managed to escape police custody after a single bench of the Lahore High Court dismissed his bail petition on Thursday.
Mukhtar was wanted by local police of Okara in millions of rupees robbery case. However, the suspect through his counsel pleaded that the police implicated him in the case with mala fide intention. He asked the court to grant him bail. The court, however, dismissed the petition.
Seeing the unfavourable decision by the court, the suspect dodged the police officials and managed a successful escape.
Naval college: A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Thursday put off hearing on the appeal of a convict of attacking Naval War College by March 10 for final arguments.
The bench after hearing partial arguments from the counsel of the convict and a deputy prosecutor general asked them to complete their arguments on next date of the hearing.
The bench was holding proceedings on appeal of Nadeem Hussain convict of facilitating suicide attackers on Naval War College, Lahore on March 4, 2008, killing four Navy employees and injuring 21 others.
Nadeem in his appeal submitted that the trial court awarded him life imprisonment after associating him with a role of facilitating the suicide attackers. He said the order was based on insufficient witnesses and proofs against him. He requested the court to acquit him after exonerating him from these charges.
Appearing before the court, deputy prosecutor general Khurram Khan submitted that the prosecution had solid proofs against the convict which led the court to punish him.
He said he facilitated the attackers in reaching and attacking the college. He said his appeal should be dismissed for being baseless.
