Harmful honey
February 01, 2018
The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has sealed some manufacturing units accused of producing fake honey. A few weeks ago, the authority banned the sale of Ajinomoto, also known as Chinese salt, citing that the ingredient is harmful for health. It is good to know that a competent authority is conducting lab tests and allowing the sale of only those products that have gone through proper verification.
Recently, PFA officials raided a manufacturing unit in Mohallah Sakhinagar and found out that the unit was producing honey using sugar syrup, glucose and plaster of Paris. The work performed by the PFA is commendable and it is hoped that the rest of the provinces will follow suit.
