Sindh CM asks police to investigate assault on two minor girls

KARACHI: Sindh CM Murad Shah taking notice of two minor girls' alleged kidnapping and sexual assault, has directed SSP Jamshoro to investigate the case cautiously and on merit.

Earlier, Sehwan Police on Monday booked Excise Police Inspector Mumtaz Soomro and his aide, manager of a guest house, Sajjad Jamali from Khosa Mohalla, Sehwan for alleged kidnapping and then sexual assault by him (Inspector Soomro) on two minor girls. One girl is 11-year-old, while the other is 12-year-old and both are students of Government Girls School Dadu. Both the accused were presented before Civil Court Sehwan on Tuesday where Civil Judge Qabil Mahar after recording of statements of both girls under Section 164 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) granted three days physical remand of Mumtaz Soomro to Sehwan Police while his associate Sajjad Jamali was sent to District Jail on judicial remand. Rasheed Channa, spokesman for the CM, said Murad Shah has strictly directed Jamshoro Police to investigate the said incident carefully. Channa added the CM has conveyed his orders to all police officials to keep vigilant eye upon the incidents of sexual assault upon minors and there was no room for such incidents in Sindh.

SHO Sehwan Inspector Zulifqar Odhano told The News that after receiving information regarding kidnapping of two minor girls, a police party raided a guest house and recovered two girls aged 11 and 12 years and arrested Mumtaz Soomro.

Inspector Odhano added after getting directions from high-ups, the said guest house was sealed and an FIR lodged against Inspector Soomro and his aide Sajjad Jamali.
