Islamabad: A delegation of the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER), a non-profit foundation committed to improving world health through education and research, will visit the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council office in Islamabad today (Thursday).
FAIMER President Dr Norcini is to head the delegation, which will visit all registration, NEB exam and postgraduate sections of the PMDC to check their functioning, especially registration and accreditation procedures.
The delegation will also see if the PMDC is following the guidelines and international standards provided by the FAIMER. PMDC President Professor Masood Hameed Khan told reporters that his organisation, the national watchdog of medical education and practice, had improved its accreditation and registration systems over the years and therefore, he was hopeful that the FAIMER delegation would be pleased to know about them. Dr Norcini became FAIMER’s first president and chief executive officer in May 2002. Before joining FAIMER, he spent 25 years with the American Board of Internal Medicine serving in various capacities, including Director of Psychometrics, Executive Vice President for Evaluation and Research, and finally, Executive Vice President of the Institute for Clinical Evaluation.
