MANSEHRA: An old enmity between two tribes was resolved in Upper Kohistan on Saturday.
The armed tribesmen belonging to Yodankhel and Shimatkhel had taken positions at hilltops of Galkot area after the former restricted the latter from fetching water from a disputed stream. The contingent of police arrested dozens of tribesmen from both sides to curb any possible bloodshed.
In view of the deteriorating law and order situation, the elders of another local tribe Botkhel started reconciliatory efforts to settle the issue and brought both entangled tribes to a grand jirga. “I am pleased to announce that enmity comes to an end following the jirga, Both the tribes will fetch water from the disputed stream,” Haji Kamal, an elder of Botkhel tribe, told a press conference in Kamila.
