Islamabad: Launching ceremony of ‘Separatist Movements in India,’ book written by Tariq Ismail Sagar organised by Muslim Institute was held here on Thursday.

Tariq Ismail Sagar, author of the book, H.H. Nawab Jahangir Khanjib Nawab of Junagadh, Sahibzada Sultan Ahmad Ali, chairman Muslim Institute, Brig. Asif Haroon Raja, defence analyst, Zafar Bakhtawari, former president Islamabad Chamber of Commerce, Abdullah Gul DG. Mesaac, Ambassador Ishtiaq H. Brig. Akhtar Nawaz Janjua, shared their views on the occasion.

Speakers appraised the book and said that it is an excellent academic effort to discuss the ground realities about separatist movements in India. Sagar’s book is based on research and describes the facts. This area is often ignored while analysing the political and economic conditions of India.

They said the book in a good addition in Urdu literature and will be very beneficial for researchers, students as well as common reader. There are more than36separatist movements in India including 22 large scale movements and many of them are fighting since decades. They belong to different religions and regions. Religious discrimination and dominance of Hindu extremists is basic reason behind such separatist movements. The division on cast basis remains the biggest cause of discrimination.

Speakers said that there are severe human rights violations by Indian security forces in order to suppress the voice of people affiliated to the separatist movements. But still Indian forces have failed to suppress these movements. This describes the fact that the Indian claim of being world’s biggest democracy is hollow and its policies are controlled by Hindu extremists factions like RSS and BJP.
