ISLAMABAD: PTI MNA Dawar Khan Kundi has termed Imran Khan’s statement that PTI parliamentarians have submitted their resignations to him a political gimmick. The party MNA contradicted the statement of the PTI chairman after a crucial CEC meeting that PTI parliamentarians have submitted their resignations to him. He said no such resignation has been demanded from him nor have the PTI parliamentarians submitted their resignations to the party chief.
In a press statement Tuesday, the dissident PTI MNA Dawar Khan Kundi stated that to the best of his knowledge, even the KP Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak and his entire cabinet has refused to resign and dissolve the KP Assembly. He said the chief minister is adamant that he wants to complete the ongoing development projects particularly the Peshawar metro bus project which if left incomplete could affect PTI’s electoral prospects. Kundi developed differences with the PTI chief after he refused to order an independent inquiry into the DI Khan incident where an innocent girl was molested and paraded naked. Instead of ordering an inquiry, Imran had issued a show cause notice to Kundi for breach of party discipline by highlighting the incident. Kundi has since joined the PTI Founders Group headed by party’s founding member Akbar S. Babar, which was formed last year with the stated goal to reform the PTI and bring it back to its founding ideals and principles.
PTI MNA Dawar Khan Kundi expressed increasing concern over the way the party is being managed at the whims of politicians such as Sh Rashid which may cost the party dearly in the coming elections. He said the fissures within the party are growing which was aptly reflected by the absence of party’s vice chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi, PTI parliamentary leader in the Punjab Assembly Mian Mahmoodur Rashid and Ch Sarwar from the CEC meeting.
