The province’s police chief has issued orders to all division-level senior superintendents of police (SSPs) to review and ensure strict implementation of security measures recommended in accordance with the National Action Plan, particularly in upper Sindh.
In his directives, Sindh IGP A D Khowaja urged all officers concerned to focus on elimination of serious crimes, with a major aim being curbing abductions. He ordered an increase in the deployment of personnel and stricter vigilance through increased patrolling on highways connecting Sindh and Balochistan, specifically during the night.
The SSPs were told to personally monitor high-profile cases in their areas. The officials were further directed to hold public meetings in their respective jurisdictions, and to dedicate a special day to meet families of cops martyred in the line of duty to ensure they were not facing any sort of difficulties.
The SSPs have also been asked to strengthen relations with the media on the basis of mutual trust and respect. Furthermore, the officers have been asked to ensure provision of necessary training in geo-fencing to all relevant police officials.
