Punjab, England and Wales judiciaries join hands
Rawalpindi : Letter of Exchange for Cooperation between the Judiciary of England & Wales and the Judiciary of Punjab was signed in the presence of Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah and Senior Judge Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench Justice Mamoon Rasheed.
The ceremony was attended by Mirza Abdul Hafeez Additional Registrar LHC Rawalpindi Bench Director District Judiciary Akmal Khan, Shahid Shafi and other high officials of Judiciary present on the occasion.
Representative of the Lord Chief Justice of England & Wales was signed the document which was received in Pakistan while Registrar Lahore High Court Syed Khurshid Anwar Rizvi signed Letter of Exchange for Cooperation in the exclusive ceremony. Head of Rule of Law British High Commission Islamabad, UK aid Susan Loughhead, Adviser Consultant British High Commission Racher Yates and Simon Charters Rule of Law Advisor, British High Commission represented British High Commission.
Giving details , Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah said that the written agreement between the Provincial Judiciary and Judiciary of England & Wales was finalized after the 9 member judiciary visit of UK in which the judicial system of Pakistan and UK were come under discussion and keeping in view the similarity in developing these system on modern lines and in accordance with the automation it was decided to institutionalize the agreement so that it could be properly followed by the officials of judiciary from both sides. He said during mutual visits, the judiciaries of England & Wales and the Punjab Province have held fruitful discussions and working meeting.
Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah said that agreement would be remained continued up to three years and during this period special emphasis would be laid on Judicial Reforms, Judicial Leadership and Governance, Case Management and Use of Technology. He said that both sides will work together and with other countries around the world to address common judicial problems and to promote the rule of law internationally. It was also stated that delegations from Pakistan and England would visit each country to share their experiences and success stories with regard to speedy justice and automation of systems.
Head of Rule of Law British High Commission Islamabad, UK aid Susan Loughhead addressing in the ceremony said that agreement of exchange of cooperation would promote mutual cooperation to upgrade judicial system of both countries by facilitating each other with their experiences and achievements.
