Interactive session to highlight abilities of PWDs

Islamabad: An interactive session to highlight the abilities of the people with disabilities (PWDs) and their right to access physical spaces and opportunities was organised on Thursday.

The event organised by the Chamber of Women Social Entrepreneurs Pakistan and Ramp is Right campaigner of Kafe Kaam in collaboration with the National Council of Social Welfare. The event was attended by a sizeable number of notables from different walks of life.

A touching ambience was created by the participation of highly skilled young

professional with different of disabilities who despite witnessing an obvious disdain for disability in Pakistan are striving to thrive with hope.

The session’s chair was renowned disability advocate Brig. Arshed Tariq (r) who shared his personal experience of life with his legendary son late Sarmad Tariq who created new horizons for hope for the disabled in Pakistan with his achievements as a special sportsman.

Disability rights adviser, Romella Hammed, who was paralyzed in the earthquake 2005 did ice breaking exercises and highlighted the need and relevance of providing livelihood opportunities to the differently abled people.

CEOs of different corporate and non-profit sector organisations also spoke on the occasion.

The chief guest was the Chair of the National Council of Social Welfare who congratulated Kafe Kaam and the chamber for organising a meaningful activity and promised full

support for all possible collaborations that would contribute towards making

the lives of Pakistani people with disabilities dignified.

The moderator Dr. Rakhshinda Perveen, founder of the chamber and Kafe Kaam highlighted

the absence of disabled friendly architecture and mainstreaming of different aspects of lives of people with disabilities.
