Gorakh Hill Station in Dadu has been billed as the ‘Murree of Sindh’. Situated on the border of Sindh and Balochistan, the hill station is a popular tourist destination. More often than not, Sindh has gained recognition for its historical sites such as Mohenjodaro. However, the resplendence of Gorakh Hill Station has continued to draw a large number of visitors.
Unfortunately, the Sindh government has neglected the hill station. A quick drive to Gorakh Hill Station reveals the dilapidated state of the road. These broken, bumpy roads are the prime reason for accidents. The Sindh government has initiated some efforts to preserve the hill station and improve facilities in the region. But these are merely piecemeal initiative that do not take on a holistic approach to problem-solving. Most of these areas are marred by poverty and disease. But little has been done to provide relief to the people. In most cases, the funds that are allocated for the hill station has filled the pockets of corrupt officers. This has only impacted the poor. The relevant authorities are strongly urged to take action against corrupt officials and provide relief to the people of this region.
