ISLAMABAD: Talat Hussain scored a brilliant unbeaten century to guide Taj XI to a comfortable 42-run win against Gulberg Gymkhana in a match of the Super Pakistan Veteran Cricket Trust Cricket Tournament here at the Al Muslim Ground, says a press release.
Asked to bat first, Taj XI scored 225 runs for the loss of three wickets in the allotted 25 overs. Their big total revolved around a stroke-filled unbeaten 123 by opener Talat. His 81-ball knock included 16 fours and three sixes. Muhammad Farooq (42), Aamir Nazir (30) and Naved Ahmed (17) also batted well.
Afzal Munir (1-18), Muhammad Arshad (1-27) and Humayun Khalid (1-35) were the wicket-takers for Gulberg Gymkhana.In reply, Gulberg Gymkhana finished their stipulated 25 overs on 183-8. Muhammad Arshad (32), Munir Ahmed (30), Malik M Akmal (27) and Humayun Khalid (21) were their main scorers.
Shakeel Ahmed finished with figures of 3-34 to be Taj XI’s most successful bowler. Ashiq Hussain and Islam Hashmi claimed two wickets each for 39 and 41 runs, respectively. Allah Baksh had 1-28.
