Army retain basketball crown

LAHORE: Pakistan Army successfully defended their title when they beat arch-rivals Wapda 71-45 in the final of the National Basketball Championship here at the Sports Board Punjab courts on Monday, says a press release.
Atif (16) and Tughlaq (15) were the top scorers for Army. Zahid (13) and Abid (12) played well for Wapda.Lahore Division registered a 66-59 victory against POF to finish third in the tournament.
In the semi-finals, Army defeated Pakistan Ordnance Factory 92-55 and Wapda beat Lahore Division 66-61. Punjab Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs Jahangir Khanzada was the chief guest on the occasion. Sports Board Punjab gave away cash awards of Rs100,000 to Army, Rs75,000 to Wapda and Rs50,000 to Lahore Division.
