Sikhs celebrate Lohri
LAHORE :The Sikh community celebrated Lohri at Gurduwara Dehra Sahib with great religious fervour.
A large number of families attended the function. After Lohri prayers, a bonfire was lit and children rejoiced at dancing and singing around it. Special prayers were held for the prosperity of Pakistan and special Prasad was distributed. Granti head Ranjeet Singh said that Lohri marks the end of the winter season and is a traditional welcome of longer days and sun's journey to the northern hemisphere by Sikhs and Hindus in the Punjab region of the subcontinent.
A large number of Hindus, Sikhs and even Muslims participated in the festival to give a message of peace and harmony to the whole world. Punjab Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Khalil Tahir Sandhu said that Lohri is a festival of Punjab.
