PESHAWAR: People at a public forum on Friday complained about mushroom growth of illegal hostels in residential areas and urged the district administration to take action against such boarding. The district administration has organised the event to listen to the problems of the residents of University Town here. DC Islam Zeb, Additional DC Shahid Ali, Assistant Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Mughis Sanaullah and heads of line departments were also present. The citizens said the owner of several houses had turned their houses into boys and girls hostel on Arbab Road and other residential areas, causing problems to the families living in these localities.
They complained about the involvement of people staying in these hostels in objectionable activities. They urged the district administration to issue code of conduct for such hostels and take action against such boarding. They also asked the administration to take up the issue of increase in drinking water bills with the Water and Sanitation Services Company.
