Academicians-media collaboration urged

Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui has called for academicians-media collaboration and close linkages to fight illiteracy and promote quality education.
Talking to a delegation of education beat reporters here he said a pro-active role of media can help to establish literate and knowledge-based society.
The delegation which met the vice chancellor in his office assured its cooperation to focus more on education which is most essential sector to develop a healthy and prosperous society.
The delegation appreciated the role of AIOU in providing quality education at the door-steps of the people across the country.
Dr. Shahid Siddiqui further said that media has developed itself as more powerful social institution. It has pivotal role in building positive and constructive public opinion for the socio-economic development of the country.
He briefed the delegation about the initiatives undertaken recently for the development of the University. He also highlighted his priority areas that includes; promotion of research culture, professional development, revision of text-books and strengthening students’ support system.
