KARACHI: Unidentified armed motorcyclists attacked the car of Justice Gulzar Ahmed’s son in Karachi on Wednesday.
According to police Muhammad Saad son of Supreme Court judge was on way to his office when unidentified armed motorcyclists shot at his car near Vita Chowrangi in Karachi’s Korangi Industrial area. Saad Gulzar was signaled to stop his car by six assailants riding on three motorcycles but he did not stop after which the armed motorcyclists opened fire at his car, police informed media.
An exchange of fire between Saad Gulzar’s security guards and assailants also took place. However, the attackers escaped unhurt.
In light of initial investigation police said it would be too early to talk about the motive behind the attack. However, it did not rule out a deliberate attempt of a murder. The attack could also be an outcome of a robbery bid, police said. Moreover, the police have launched an investigation into the matter to unearth the truth.
It is worth mentioning here that Justice Gulzar has been hearing cases pertaining to land encroachment and grabbing in Karachi besides he is one of the five judges who heard the Panama Papers case.
