Governor calls for research, introducing innovative ideas
PESHAWAR: Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra on Monday called for research and introducing innovative ideas in medical education to better serve the ailing humanity.
Speaking as chief guest at the convocation of Khyber College of Dentistry here, the governor told the passed out graduates that their cherished dreams materialised “but you must keep it in mind that the road ahead was long and you need to apply the skills with honesty and follow code of ethics.”
Prof. Dr. Arshad Javaid, Vice-Chancellor Khyber Medical University, Prof. Dr Ghulam Rasool, Dean Khyber College of Dentistry (KCD), faculty members, passed out graduates, parents of students and others were present, said a handout.
Congratulating the graduating students, the governor said that their parents and faculty have put in sustained and sincere efforts to enable them to lead a successful practical life. Now, he added, they had entered a new life which was full of challenges and opportunities.
“You are being expected to take up the challenges boldly and not to miss opportunities to excel in your profession,” he told the doctors.
Zafar Jhagra said: “Institutions need teamwork to grow and this can be achieved to rise above gender, caste, race and regionalism. To do so, you must eliminate bias by deciding every issue on basis of factual figures, dignity, transparency.”
He also awarded degrees and medals to 68 graduates in dentistry. Out of which 17 students were awarded with gold medals and Rs10,000 respectively. Governor also announced Rs1 million for Khyber College of Dentistry.
